Back in the Can and ready for brunch!

In a matter of 2 days I managed to move from Darwin to Canberra – with a short trip home to Melbourne to unpack and pack all over again!

I’ve been back in Canberra for just over 2 weeks now completing another dietetics placement and I must say, it is absolutely fantastic to be back in the nation’s capital. It WOULD feel like I’ve never left… except for the fact that since leaving in November there has been a considerable amount of new cafe’s and brunch spots that have opened up!

So many cafe’s to check out… so little time…

One word: cronut.

A cross between a croissant and a doughnut, this extremely decadent pastry is well worth the $6 it costs. But be sure to have a glass of water handy!

In terms of a good feed, I definitely recommend the HEALTH BOARD: muesli, milk, yoghurt, fresh fruit, a shot of green juice, and lastly some stewed rhubarb (which they forgot to give me – so cannot comment on that part!)

Great food and awesome atmosphere!

At Penny Uni it was the cronut…. Here at Double Shot it is ALL about their peanut butter smoothie! Almond milk, peanut butter, banana, and agave syrup. So yum and the peanut butter is not too overpowering which I liked.

As for the food I’ve tasted:
– BRIOCHE FRENCH TOAST: so yum! Cannot fault. Salted caramel sauce actually worked really well with the Nutella ganache.
– SCRAMBLED EGGS ON TOAST: eggs were fab. As for the bread, you definitely need a steak knife to cut through it!

Atmosphere at Double Shot is also great. Love the plants, the wood feature wall and this ball of cuteness…

Where are you brunching around Canberra?

P.S. Happy Canberra Day everyone!
