Change of scenery – a tribute to the south side

I am sure by now you’ve realised that I never settle down in one place for too long.

There are too many adventures to go on.

Too many opportunities to tackle.

Too many brunch dishes to taste!

Unfortunately it is time to say goodbye to my amazing home in South Melbourne as I am about to embark on the next stage of my life – working as a clinical dietitian for a rural health service.

Most of my weekdays will now be spent with a calculator in my left hand and some dietitian stickers in my right hand while I treat hospital patients, community members and aged adults for a range of medical nutrition issues in a town in Victoria’s north-west.

But on my days off you’ll still see me at cheer training or eating brunch in the most amazing cafes around Melbourne.

I guess you could say I’ll have the best of both worlds.

While my time in South Melbourne was short-lived, I know I’ll be back regularly for catch ups with friends, shop-ups at South Melbourne Market, walks around Albert Park Lake, Nutella-latte’s from Let Me Be Frank and of course the amazing Banoffee French Toast from Left-Handed Chef.

So this blog post is a tribute to my fantastic time south-side.

Here are just some of my memorable moments in the quiet, sophisticated and oh-so-trendy pocket of Melbourne’s south.

Sunny mornings drinking a pot of English Breakfast tea in my PJs on my balcony. Then cool breezy afternoons spent working away on my laptop here. I'm definitely going to miss this home.

Brunch this weekend with THE foodies of Melbourne - Mardi, Sarah & Emma. This dish of fritters and poached eggs is from the one and only St Ali.

Coffee from Prescilla Jones at Gasworks Arts Park. I've spent much time sipping on a takeaway drink while watching the gorgeous dogs that have the time of their life running around there. Not pictured: Prescilla Jones' yummy carrot and zucchini cake - the frosting is to die for.

Being in such close proximity to my brother meant that brother/sister bonding time was a regular thing. Cooked him healthy meals, went out for pho and hung out at Albert Park in warm evenings.

My absolutely beautiful bedroom if I do say so myself!

My absolutely beautiful bedroom that I’m going to miss so much.

So thank you South Melbourne for the great memories.

There are still some things on my “South Melb To-Do List” that I am yet to tick off so I’ll be back regularly to make sure those tasks are completed!
